Her real name is Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye while stage name is Simi, she is a Nigerian singer and song writer who was born April 19, 1988. The professional singer who is currently signed to X3M Music started her career as a gospel singer, releasing her debut studio album in 2006 titled “Ogaju”. Simi shot to limelight after releasing “Tiff” in year 2014, a song that earned her a nomination in two categories at The Headies 2015.

Simisola Bolatito Ogunleye who is also addressed as Simplysimi is a Nigerian singer and song writer who started his career as a gospel singer before switching to R&B. The singer was born in April 1988(currently 29 years old) got a celebrity profile after the release of singles like: Tiff, Love Dont Care and Jamb question. Her notable biggest hit that put her in that spot was the one she featured Falz The Badt Guy titled ”Soldier” , a song that is still enjoying massive airplay and accolades.
Simi was born and brought up in a popular area called Ojuelegba in Lagos which is a suburb of Surulere, she is the last child in the family of 4 children. She once revealed that her growing up was terrible because she used to dress up like a boy, the one that is mostly referred to as tomboy by Nigerians. She preferred the male gender while growing up and got separated from her parents at the age of 9 and started a new lifestyle by dressing like a girl that she really is.
Simi is a proud graduate of Covenant University where she studied mass communication. She composed her first song at the age of 10 and started singing at the age of 16. She is that type that have soft spot for arts and as a result, she started singing and dancing as teenager and as a member of the teenage church choir.

Simi loves singing and dancing as she was a member of her local church’s choir before writing her first song at the age of 10 . She started singing professionally after the release of her debut album titled Ogaju in 2006 which had some hits like “Ogaju”, “Iya Temi” and “Ara Ile” all songs produced by ace producer, Samklef.
Counting up to 2008, Simi connected with a producer/songwriter (Oscar Heman-Ackah) and they both related with themselves musically. Fast forward to 2013 she officially signed a production contract with Oscar Music Production. They worked together in a single direction and the goal was to create a fresh and refined Simi that people would love as a result of her sound and style of music .
2014 | Restless And Chemistry
In January 2014, Simi released an EP titled Restless which gained her new grounds and further earned her a record deal with X3M Music. The 5-track EP contains a cover of popular songs by international acts like Rihanna’s “Man Down” and Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain”.
On January 9, 2014, Simi released two singles titled “Tiff” and “E No Go Funny”, they got massive airplay and accepted generally among music critics. The music video for “Tiff” was released on August 30, 2015 and directed by Josh Clarke . This song earned Simi nomination in the “Best Alternative Song” category at the 2015 edition of The Headies. From this spot, it became rise , rise and rise for her . In 2015, Simi won the “Most Promising Act to Watch” category at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards. She also released a single titled “Jamb Question” which later featured Falz in the remix.
Others songs include “Love Don’t Care”, an Oscar Heman-Ackah-produced ballad which was released on the 14th of February, 2016. The music video of the song “Love Don’t Care” was directed by Clarence Peters. She got nominated in the Best Breakthrough Act category at the 2016 edition of the MTV Africa Music Awards.
Her notable last work was in Chemistry, which is a project that was jointly released by Simi and Falz The Badt Guy. It wouldn’t be forgotten in a hurry that she also got nominated in three categories at The Headies 2016 award ceremony and had victory in one category.
