Born Obinna Nwafor better known by his stage name Saint Obi , is a veteran Nollywood actor, producer, director, entrepreneur, investor. The ace Nollywood legend is best known for his roles in Candle Light, Sakobi, Goodbye Tomorrow, Heart of Gold, Festival of Fire, Last Party, Executive Crime More Than a Woman and Final Whistle.
Saint Obi is one of the pillars that holds Nigeria movie industry and one of those legendary actors and actress that help placed Nollywood on the map, they are the top merchants who help gave Nollywood the high reputation it has over it counterparts today. The handsome actor is often called Nollywood’s Mr Quality because of his attention to details when producing or directing movie.
There was an epic moment in the movie titled “Take Me To Maama”, Saint Obi sacrificed his Mercedes Benz car in the bomb blast scene because of his desire to make the bomb scene look very real and he was able to achieve that .
Early life, Background and Education
Saint Obi whose real names are Obinna Nwafor was born on the 16th November 1965 in Port Harcourt in Rivers State. He originally hails from Okpa in Mbaitolo Local Government Area, Imo State. According to his official biography, he is the only male child with eight other female sisters.

The Nollywood legend completed both his primary, secondary and tertiary education in Jos, Plateau State even tertiary education. He attended Zang Secondary Commercial School in Jos where he obtained his West African Senior School Certificate before proceeding to the University of Jos where he obtained a degree in Theatre Arts in 1991.
After completing his university education in 1991, he decided to launch his professional acting career. Saint Obi officially joined Nollywood in 1995 when he started attending movie auditions. Few years into his acting career , he managed to feature in number of soap operas which aired on NTA after which he was called by Opa Williams to star in movie. This movie roles followed by another invitation by Zeb Ejiro to feature in another movie.
The top notch actor has been able to feature in not less than 250 movies since his acting debut in 1995. Aside movie acting, he has also tried his hand on movie production, he produced his first movie titled Take Me to Maama, where he starred as Jerry, alongside Rachel Oniga, Nse Abel, Ebi Sam and Enebeli Elebuwa. The movie Take Me to Maama was the first Nigerian production to receive a corporate endorsement. It was endorsed by Coca-Cola and marketed and promoted by NTA. In the movie, Obi sacrificed his Mercedes Benz in a bomb blast scene just to make the movie real and that target was achieved.
Saint Obi is a married man with beautiful kids. he is currently married to Lydia Saint Nwafor and they are blessed with many beautiful kids. They tied the knot in December 2006 and they got married at Lydia’s hometown in Anambra. They had their first fruit a boy in 2008 .

Saint Obi is not the type of man that place all his eggs in one basket. Aside Nollywood acting and movie production, he is also a full time businessman and philanthropist. He is the CEO of Agwhyte International. The company is involved in Film, Television, Media & Consultancy Company.
That’s not all, the company in question also has a music unit and movie production section which recently released 5 blockbuster movies which include Big Shot, Invaders , After the Vow, Mrs. Brown and My Yesterday. We gathered that Agwhyte spent over N200 million to release these movies.

Saint Obi was once involved in politics. According to reports that went round some years ago, the popular actor and producer quit acting in order to continue campaigning for the former President, Goodluck Jonathan. Although, he was heavily criticized for his decision to support the former Nigeria President.
He later released a statement consigning this bashing, and he said he supported him because he believes he is a symbol of hope, justice and equity for the nation. Whatever it is, i think everyone has right to whatever he or she want’s to do especially when it comes to politics.
