MzVee whose real names are Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda was born on the 23th June 1992 in Accra to Ernest Hamenoo-Kpeda, a businessman, and Florence Hamenoo-Kpeda, a caterer. She grow up with her two older sisters and a brother. One of her sibling is a popular make-up artist marrgee and she has worked with several Ghanaian musicians .

She had her formal and University education her country Ghana. She attended St Martin de Porres School in Accra in her early years. After completing her primary school education, she proceeded to St Mary’s Senior High School for her secondary school education . When she completed her secondary school education, she studied Business Administration at Ghana Telecom University before launching her professional music career proper.

Music Career

Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda aka MzVee started her professional music career in 2012 and officially entered into the Ghanaian music scene the same year as the lead singer of Lynx Entertainment’s girl band D3. It was one of the most recognized band , the band successfully released couple of hit singles such as ‘Good Girls Gone Bad’ and ‘Gyani Gyani’ before disbanding at the end of 2013 with the intention to pursue their education .

She had her breakthrough when she launched her solo career , she officially started her solo career with debut single ‘Borkor Borkor’ which was released in January 2014. She later released a follow up single titled ‘Natural Girl’ which won her the ‘Unsung Artiste Award’ at the 2014 Ghana Music Awards.

After the success of her hit singles, she decided to release her debut album, she officially dropped her first album in November 2014 and features collaborations with top Ghanaian artistes including Stonebwoy, VIP, Shatta Wale, Richie Mensah, Manifest and Didier Awadi. As a result of the massive success of her first album, MzVee released her second album titled “Verified” in November 2015 to rave reviews.

Her “Verified” album earned MzVee seven nominations at the 2016 Ghana Music Award including ‘Album of the Year’ and ‘Record of the Year’ for the single ‘Abofra’ which features Efya. She also went ahead to released her highly anticipated third album “DaaVee” was released in May 2017, an album that as brought her so much success, global recognition and many awards.

MzVee’s Musical style is one which is widely admired. MzVee’s music contains elements of afropop, R&B and dancehall and her strong vocal abilities earned her a nomination for ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’ at the 2015 Ghana Music Awards and the award for ‘Most Promising Act’ at the 2015 Ghana Music Honors. She is labelled as one of the stars of Ghana’s dancehall scene and received the award for ‘Best Female Vocalist of the Year’ at the 2015 Ghanaian dancehall awards, BASS awards.

MzVee was appointed the World Bank Ambassador for their ‘End Extreme Poverty Campaign’ in October 2015. Following this recognition, she went ahead to released the official campaign song titled ‘End Poverty’.
