Lesley-Ann Brandt is a South African actress who is based in Auckland, New Zealand, and Los Angeles United States. Lesley Brandt is of Cape Coloured descent but prefer to reside in other countries like New Zealand and United States. She has featured in numerous New Zealand television series and rose to prominence after starring in Spartacus: Blood and Sand where she played as a slave girl Naevia in the series.

Lesley-Ann Brandt who is well known as Lesley Brandt was born 2 December 1981 in Cape Town, South Africa. Brandt is of East Indian, German, Dutch and Spanish and African descent in other word, her nationality is South African and ethnicity mixed(East Indian, German, Dutch and Spanish). She is the daughter of William Warren, a cruise ship owner and her mother was an artist. She is the first child in her family , she is a fluent Afrikaans speaker and her interests include s yoga, hockey and baseball amongst others. According to her, she used to play competitive field hockey while she was in South Africa.

Lesley Brandt spend most of her childhood days in Cape Town , South Africa where she was raised by her parents — meanwhile, her father was mostly out of the home leaving here to the care of her mother who was always at home. Lesley-Ann Brandt and her mother understood themselves very well and they were able to keep a good relationship and they also attended yoga classes together to keep them fit .

Lesley Brandt moved to Auckland to New Zealand with her parents and her younger brother in 1999 when she was only 19 years old. She finally made up her mind to pursue a career in acting after moving down to New Zealand . On getting there, she started work in retail sales in Auckland before securing work as an information technology recruitment consultant. Lesley also worked briefly as a promo-girl for Red Bull.

After launching her professional acting career her first big role was in the New Zealand television series “Diplomatic Immunity” where she played a lead actress. From there she went on to appear in guest roles on the New Zealand hospital soap opera, Shortland Street, and This Is Not My Life, a science fiction series . After featuring in several TV series, she was picked for a big movie named Spartacus: Blood and Sand where she played a role as Naevia. From this point her life became so fortunate and successful.

As a result of her exceptional performance in Spartacus: Blood and Sand, she was called for another one titled Spartacus: Gods of the Arena and The Hopes & Dreams of Gazza Snell. This was how her success started , she started from the grass root and made it to the top within the shorted possible time that you could ever imagine.

She initially auditioned for the role of Sura but the casting director suggested she audition for the role of Naevia instead and everything was perfect as anticipated by the casting director . owing to the  production delays following the death of Andy Whitfield, Brandt did not return for the subsequent seasons of Spartacus . Cynthia Addai-Robinson ultimately replaced her as Naevia as she didn’t return.

Brandt played a role in the New Zealand coming-of-age feature film The Hopes & Dreams of Gazza Snell, a film about the victim of a kart racing accident. She also starred in the CSI: NY episodes “Smooth Criminal” and “Food for Thought”. She appeared in the film InSight in which she plays nurse Valerie Khoury.

In May 2010, Brandt guest starred on Legend of the Seeker, another Rob Tapert/Sam Raimi production filmed in New Zealand. She appeared in the Season 2 season finale “Tears” in the role of Sister Thea. She played a guest role in TNT’s Memphis Beat, and appeared as Cassie in Syfy’s highest rated original feature for 2011, Zombie Apocalypse, which also starred Ving Rhames and Taryn Manning.

In 2013 she played as Naomi Cox in the third season of Single Ladies . She also starred as Larissa Diaz/Copperhead on Gotham in 2014, starred as the recurring Lamia in The Librarians, her movie are so much . She has played guest roles and lead roles in many popular series and she is not taking a break soon.

Personal Life

She is married to actor Chris Payne Gilbert. The two got married in 2015 after dating for three years. Their first child is Kingston Payne Brandt-Gilbert, birthed in July 2017.
