Early Life And Education

Lara George was born into an average family of Oluwole Bajomo in Lagos state, the administrative division of Nigeria. She is the fourth child in a family of five children. She had her secondary school education at Queen’s College, Lagos before bagging a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the prestigious University of Lagos. While she as attending Queens College, Lagos, she was a bonafide member of the school’s choir who was greatly admired for her beautiful/angelic voice, she never knew she would pursue a musical career as she thought is was for main-time.

After graduating from University of Lagos where she obtained a degree in Architecture , the passion for music started coming and she began noticing her musical talent , there was a great prospect for her in music and she began to see herself as a potential talented singer. While she was in school, she was a member of campus fellowship choir, where she sang together with other students. Launching into her professional music career , she joined she musical group “Kush”, which also included artists like Dapo Torimiro, Emem Ema and Ty Bello; they are all close friends who met on campus. Their style of music was greatly influenced by western tunes and fetched them a lot of fans and achievements all over Nigeria. The musical group was later discontinued which turned out to be very unfortunate for the rest of the group members but for Lara George, it was the beginning of her music career and she has recorded huge success in her solo career since parting ways with the group. The KUSH group was one of the earliest modern Gospel music groups in Nigeria.

Her musical journey started professionally after she graduated from the University of Lagos, where she joined the campus fellowship choir. After disbanding the musical group Kush, which included TY Bello, Dapo Torimiro and Emem Ema, Lara George , she took a short break from music to plan what will be her next move in the music scene and the kind of music she would like to produce in order to make it to the top of her career. She had an impressive start with the release of her debut album in 2007 called “Forever in My Heart”. This was her first so album and it produced one of her biggest hit titled “Ijoba Orun” , a hit that still enjoys a huge support and airplay on radio stations , churches and homes.
