Early Life And Background
Gregory Bortey Newman aka King Promise was born on the 16th of August. The highly respected and celebrated Ghana musician is the son of Francis Newman, a businessman, and Angela Quaye, a trader.
The singer who is currently 23 year-old attended De Kings Academy for his childhood education in Ghana. He later proceeded to Nungua Senior High School located in the suburbs of Ghana’s capital city, Accra for his secondary school education.
After taking a break from pursuing his education, he went back to school and graduated last year from Central University . He revealed that he got the opportunity to learn a lot during the break from education because he was able to hone his skills . It is right and just to call him a prolific songwriter because of the fact that he has co-wrote a lot of songs , he co-wrote Adina’s ‘Too late’ and it won an award at the 2017 Ghana Music Awards.

According to the handsome and séxy singer, his father was one of the people who supported him and he is also a heavy influence on his musical career as he grew up listening to his dad play an eclectic genre of classic music. His father’s influence on his musical career has reflected in his upcoming album which features a variety of genres from hip-hop to gospel, soul to R&B, and a subtle blend of African rhythms that goes well with his beautifully smooth voice.

King Promise has worked and collaborated with many Ghanaian talents including Joey B, BET Awards winner Stonebwoy, Mr Eazi , M.anifest, Killbeatz, R2bees and Fuse ODG amongst others. His highly anticipated single ‘Thank God’ was released in year 2016 and it featured Fuse ODG and produced by Killbeatz . His kind of music is Afrobeats, HighLife, R&B and Hip-Hop genres.
It is very obvious that he has come to stay in the Ghana music industry because he is giving his counterparts run for their money when it come to talent.
The singer stated in a recent chat that he is not a fan of going on dates explaining that he prefers to rather stay home all day. He said he never had a girlfriend and has only been to two dates.
He also said that he is not really surprised that he has won the hearts of many ladies because he is a mummy’s boy.
“Even before I came into the limelight, I knew the ladies would like me because I have been influenced by my mum who provides everything I need. I have been pampered so much by my mother that it’s not even funny” he told Showbiz in an interview last Saturday.
“Although I have a lot of friends, I love being in the company of my mother. I am most of the time with my mother and that should tell anyone how close I am to her”.
