Kenneth Okonkwo is a veteran Nigerian actor, director, producer, television personality, entrepreneur popularly known for his role in the movie Living in Bondage. Kenneth is also generally called ‘Andy’, and he is a well known Nigerian Nollywood actor.

Kenneth Okonkwo is one of the most popular and richest Nollywood stars. He has won several awards including the African Movie Academy Award on a Special Recognition of Pillars of Nollywood in year 2013.

The prominent actor was also honoured with a special recognition award by the organisers of the City People Entertainment Awards for his contribution to the growth of entertainment in Nigeria.

Early Life And Background

Kenneth Okonkwo was born on 6th November, 1965 in Nsukka, Enugu State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. The experienced and top rated actor is a native of Enugu State (Nsukka Local Government),he rose to lime-light after playing as ‘Andy’ in the movie Living in Bondage, a Nigerian drama thriller released in 1992.

Kenneth has since then stayed focus on his career . He has also been featured in the Television Soap Opera “Ripples” where he played the role of Captain John Mark.

Educational Background

The famous Nollywood actor is a graduate , he had his primary and secondary school education in Lagos State and successfully obtained his First School Leaving Certificate and West African Senior School Certificate (WAEC).

He then proceeded to the prestigious University of Nigeria, Nsukka in Enugu State, Nigeria and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration after completing his secondary school education in Lagos State. He didn’t cut his education there, he later went further to obtain a Masters Degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, Nigeria. That’s not the end of his education background, he later went on to study Theology at the Bible School before calling it a wrap.

He decided to take his acting career to the next level in year 1991 by joining Nigeria movie industry (Nollywood) . After joining Nollywwod, he began attending movies auditions and getting minor roles in television series and soap opera.

Kenneth Okonkwo was featured in several movie but he officially gained fame after starring in the Nollywood blockbuster movie “Living in Bondage” in 1992 , the movie brought him to stardom and became one of the most loved actor in the country.

Living In Bondage

Kenneth Okonkwo rose to recognition after he played as ‘Andy’ in the age long film Living in Bondage, the movie that gave birth to Nollywood. The movie tells about the story of a man, Andy — whose desperation for wealth leads him to join a secret cult, sacrifice his wife in exchange for wealth. After using his wife for the ritual, he became very rich and was haunted by the ghost of his dead wife.

Living in Bondage is one of the most watch Nollywood movie. It was directed by Chris Obi Rapu, written by Kenneth Nnebue and Okechukwu Ogunjiofor, and produced by Okechukwu Ogunjiofor. Other big guns that appeared in the movie are Okechukwu Ogunjiofor,Kanayo O. Kanayo, Francis Agu and many others.

Kenneth Okonkwo is currently married to the love of his life, Ifeoma Okonkwo. They got married in 2017 and waited for nine good years become they welcomed their first child twins. They had their first child on 7th May 2016 and it was a thing of joy for them after waiting patiently for many years.

Kenneth Okonkwo was married before , he got married to Ogechi Ezekiel, the only daughter of Pastor Ezekiel, General Overseer of Christian Pentecostal Mission International in year 2000. The union went down the drain in 2002 barely two years after the wedding.

Kenneth Okonkwo’s first marriage with Ogechi Ezekiel produced a son. While the second marriage has produced twins on 7th May, 2016.
