Panshak Zamani who is better known by his stage name Ice Prince or Ice Prince Zamani, is a Nigerian hip hop recording artist , rapper and actor. He is one of the most popular Nigeria hip hop star ,he rose to recognition after the release of “Oleku”, one of Nigeria’s most remixed songs of all time according to music critics.

He is one Nigeria rapper that the country is proud of and he has won several awards and many nominations to his name. The gifted rapper is currently signed under Chocolate City and he has bagged awards like BET Award, one Ghana Music Award, The Headies Awards, Nigeria Entertainment Awards ,Channel O Music Video Awards and lots more.

Early Life , Background And Education

Panshak Henri Zamani was born 30 October 1986 in the city of Minna, Niger State, Nigeria. Young ice price moved with his family to Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria when he was only two years old. He lost his father in 1999 and his single mother took care of him. He attended St. Murumba College while he was residing in Jos, and he also studied briefly at Science Tutorial College in Jos.

Music Career

The rapper Ice Prince officially started writing songs in year 1999 and he started performing them at social events held at his school. After some years of performing in shows , he finally started going to recording studios to record songs in 2001. The following year , he teamed with some friend and they formed a music group called the “Ecomog Squad”. They performed on some shows but not much before they disbanded to pursue their solo career . Fast forward to year 2004, he met MI Abaga and later connected with Jesse Jagz, Ruby, Lindsey, Eve, Taz, and they became known today as the “Loopy Crew”.

Ice Prince released his first single “Extraordinary” in year 2004. He also went ahead to release another single titled “Rewind” which received radio airplay in Lagos and Abuja . The critically acclaimed single topped charts on several platforms like Unilag FM, Zain Central Station, Inspiration Fm, Top FM’s “Top of the Morning”, Cosmo FM’s “Top Hits”, Africa Connect Chat Show, and Kiss’ “Top 20 Africa”.

Ice Prince participated in the Hennessy Artistry competition in 2009 and the highly talked about competition was put together by the Hennessy brand which supports urban and contemporary music. Some other participants include Bez, Mo’Cheddah, Blaise, and Jimmy Flames; but Ice was picked as the 1st with his lead single “Badman” at the end of the competition.

Ice Prince released Oleku and it was the first single off his debut album, it was accepted by many rap song lovers across the country. Ice prince has also worked with some big guns in the music industry the likes of Taikoon’s on his song “Respect My Hustle” with Banky W, DJ Neptune’s “This Gbedu Reloaded” with YQ & Shank, Bez’s “Super Sun (Remix)” with ELDee & Eva Alordiah, YQ’s “Efimile (Remix)” Naeto C, M.I, Banky W, ELDee, Pherowshuz, Terry Tha Rapman, Dekunle Fuji’s “, Jesse Jagz, Wizkid, Kel, Reminisce, Sauce Kid, Knighthouse, Mo’Cheddah, Funbi, and Mobie.

Fast forward to year 2012, he collaborated with Grip Boiz City producer Chopstix and released “Aboki” in early 2012. The song “Aboki” peaked at number 92 on Afribiz’s Top 100 chart. He also released “More” on the 28 of August 2012 as the second single from the album. “Aboki (Remix) was released on 25 January 2013 , he described the song as the “biggest African collision ever. The remix of Aboki featured Wizkid, M.I Abaga , Sarkodie, Mercy Johnson and Khuli Chana.

He started making preparation to release his third studio album in 2015. After many months for working on this project, he finally release it independently outside Chocolate City record label. The handsome rapper cited the likes of Notorious B.I.G., Rakim, Kanye West, Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, Lauryn Hill, M.I , Jay-Z, Common, Talib Kweli and Jesse Jagz as his key musical influences.

Personal Life

Ice prince has a beautiful son named Jamal with Bimbo Babatunde. He once revealed in a chart with Nigerian Tribune that he dated Eva Alordiah long time ago when he first moved down to Lagos. He is a Muslim when it comes to religion.
